At the beginning of July, the Sorbonne University in Paris will host a summer school organised by the European University Alliance 4EU+, which will be dedicated to cancer research. The Czech part of the academic programme will be fully provided by scientists from the National Institute of Cancer Research.
The 4EU+ Alliance brings together eight renowned European universities – Charles University, Universität Heidelberg (Germany), Sorbonne Université (France), Uniwersytet Warszawski (Poland), Università degli Studi di Milano (Italy), Københavns Universitet (Denmark), Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas (France) and Université de Genève (Switzerland) – and aims, among other things, to improve the quality of mutual cooperation in teaching, education and research.
‘The aim of our international summer school, which will be held for the third time this year, is to provide undergraduate students with an overview of the various components of cancer research, with an emphasis on its complexity and multidisciplinarity, but also on its financing, without which further progress in biomedicine would not be possible,’ says NICR Director Aleksi Šedo, who is also one of the three co-organisers, adding: ‘For many of the invited students, this may be their first opportunity to present their own research activities at an international forum, discuss with leading experts, exchange experiences with peers from other countries and start building their own network of contacts.’
